The Royal Canadian College of Organists Kingston Centre presents organist Sarah Svendsen in concert at St. George’s Cathedral on Tuesday 26 February at 7:30pm. The magnificent Cathedral organ was restored and expanded in 2012 and is now the largest pipe organ in the region. Admission is pay-what-you-can to defray expenses. Sarah will also present a special concert for young people from twelve area schools the following day. Her visit is made possible by the national RCCO Travelling Clinicians Program. St. George’s Cathedral is at 270 King Street East (at Johnson), Kingston. Call 647-989-1920 or visit rcco-kingston.ca.
A past laureate of the RCCO National Organ Playing Competition, Sarah Svendsen is a graduate of the Yale School of Music, and has performed in Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. In September of 2016, Sarah made her symphonic debut as soloist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, for which her playing was reviewed to be “greatly virtuosic”. Svendsen is scheduled for a return appearance with the WSO in November, 2019.
