Because of a pipe burst and damage done, and with the possibility that The Elm may or may not be open by the 5th, I have moved the event one week later.
Tuesday, February 12th from 7-9:30pm. Doors open at 6:30pm.
(the event includes an intermission)
The Elm Café, located at 303 Montreal St (corner of Montreal and Charles)
6-minute max time at the mic
Admission – Free
There is a bus stop almost right outside the door.
Following The Elm’s normal 5pm close, the store will re-open their doors at 6:30, and please wait until 6:30 to arrive to allow the barista time to set up. That barista, then, will be on hand throughout the evening to offer wine, beer, espresso drinks, tea, and bottled or canned drinks, along with a limited selection of baked goods and other fare. The Elm is a licensed café.
Readings will begin shortly after 7pm, as quickly as the line at the till clears and everyone wanting to read has signed up.
Open Mic information:
– This continuous monthly reading series debuted in May 2009 as ‘poetry @ the artel’. Its name changed in 2015, and the series continued uninterrupted. We meet monthly at The Elm Café, 303 Montreal Street (corner of Montreal & Charles). And always the 1st Tuesday night of each month.
-This poetry series provides an open, inviting, and encouraging space where the diversity of work, style, and voice is always welcome. Prose or even music is welcome as well, but still with the ‘6 minute’ rule.
-These readings are recorded for playback (with permission) on CFRC 101.9fm’s “finding a voice”.
-This is an open event, so feel free to invite friends. It is as well an open-door event, so it’s fine to come late. Hope to see you there 🙂
To all those of you who have attended this monthly reading series as either a reader or a guest over the past now 9 1/2 years, I do especially want to let you know that it is each of you who has made this the wonderful and beautiful event that it is. To each of you, a heartfelt thank you 🙂
