Join local artist Karin Pryal for a three hour experience, beginning your journey into Chiaroscuro drawing with willow charcoal. (Chiaroscuro meaning an effect of contrasted light and shadow) Get your hands dirty and enjoy the process of creation!
Students will review the tools of drawing with natural willow charcoal, their greyscale and dive into learning about light source. We will practice working with deep shadows on our still-life setups, than move toward creating drawings from our live model.
The last hour of the class will be a draped live model session, learning to draw the human form from life. Our model will pose for short gestures, short chiaroscuro drawings and a couple longer chiaroscuro poses.
Difficulty level: Beginner to Intermediate
Previous experience is not required.
Class runs June 13th, 6:00-9:00pm.
Ticket cost: $35, all supplies included.
(Tickets will be available online or at Open Studios, downtown.)
