Event Details

LONGING: By Chance Poetry, Sculpture and Printmaking An interactive art project offered by GRIT: Intergenerational Women Artists Collective from Kingston.
WHERE? Novel Idea Bookstore at 156 Princess St. Kingston. In the big window. See it safely from the sidewalk.
WHEN? September 25 to October 4, 2020.
WHAT? LONGING is a window art installation that uses the “Unexpected Intersections” theme of Culture Days 2020. Drop by the big window at Novel Idea to see GRIT’s art installation that intersects unexpectedly with some of our collaborative methods; this time with sun printmaking, wood fired clay sculpture and a random poetry process.
PUBLIC All Ages
INVITATION: Participate in GRIT’s family friendly by chance random poetry process. Are you LONGING for something in this discombobulated age of COVID-19? Write a poetry line about it or something precious or beautiful to you. Email your line to GRIT member, Andy Berg at andyberg-art@hotmail.com. GRIT will then build a public intergenerational poem that reflects upon the “Unexpected Intersections” of diverse poetry lines using our by chance method. Free copies of this poem will be emailed to participants in early November. Please check out GRIT’s window poem called LONGING to see how we do this.
OPENING DAY: Meet GRIT artists at a safe physical distance during our LONGING poetry reading to be held on the sidewalk in front of Novel Idea Bookstore at 5 pm, September 25, 2020. Q & A after our poetry reading. We look forward to seeing you! We will have free signed limited edition LONGING poetry chapbooks for visitors to pick up from the mantle during our 2 week event.Special Note: LONGING is inspired by “The Lost Garden”, a novel by Kingston author, Helen Humphries.
