Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is pleased to announce two new exhibitions as part of its summer 2019 programming. A public reception will be held at the gallery on Friday July 5, from 6 to 8 PM, with remarks at 6:30 PM. Light refreshments will be served.
In the Main Gallery:
Responding to Bian Zhilin’s 1935 poem “Fragment,” “from here, with you there” is a group exhibition examining and complicating the notion of encounter, the impulse of perceptions and relational subjectivity, in pictorial and spacial terms. The exhibition features works by Emebet Belete, Michèle LaRose, Hillary Matt, Jocelyn Purdie, and Andrew Testa, and is curated by Henry Heng Lu.
In the State of Flux Gallery:
“Adorn and Dissolve II” is the second solo exhibition by Vancouver-based artist Madison Tyrell. The exhibition primarily focuses on a series of oil paintings concerned with landscape and the female form, accompanied by a video that incorporates hand-drawn animations as a digital extension of the project.
Both exhibitions will run from June 29 to August 17, 2019. Free and open to all.
