Whit Montgomery will graduate in June 2015 from grade 12 at Rideau District High School. For the months of mid February through mid May 2015 Whit volunteered at the Pamoja Tunaweza Boys and Girls Club in Moshi, Tanzania. Whit mentored local children in the arts, sport, music and life skills.
Whit has been interested in creating art since he was very young. Most of his early work was illustrative and possessed a comic book style concept. He then began to develop his work and turned towards a darker, more graphic style illustration. In November 2013 Whit began exploring acrylic on canvas as his medium. He took to it very naturally and has now created several striking pieces, exploring portraiture while developing his distinctive artistic style. Whit’s use of colour and his freedom with the brush are very mature for this stage in his career, which is apparent in the popularity of his work. He has already developed a modest following in the Kingston area and already has a reputation as an up and coming artist.
In the fall of 2015 Whit has his sites set on attending university to study Fine Art.
