KINGSTON ASSOCIATION OF MUSEUMS, ART GALLERIES, AND HISTORIC SITES
The Kingston Association of Museums, Galleries, and Historic Sites, Inc. (KAM) is a not-for-profit, collaborative group of member institutions from the Kingston region with collections ranging from archaeology, earth sciences, fine art, trade, health care, and technology. KAM exists primarily to raise public awareness of their member institutions through the facilitation of collective marketing, promotion, and programming initiatives., KAM also offers professional development training related to museum/gallery/historic site function and operation.
KINGSTON THEATRE ALLIANCE
The Kingston Theatre Alliance (KTA) is an incorporated non-profit that aims to situate Kingston as a centre of cultural innovation in a way which promotes tourism, economic viability and cultural research and development. It advocates for Kingston-based theatre artists and organizations, acting as a umbrella organization to connect artists of all levels with the backing of professional, educational partners in the public and private sectors.
ORGANIZATION OF KINGSTON WOMEN ARTISTS
The Organization of Kingston Women Artists (OKWA) is a non-profit independent association with a current membership of approximately 55 artists. This group showcases artists through an annual contemporary exhibition, alongside several workshops, Artists Talks, and a scholarship provided to a graduating highschool student pursuing arts education. Their vision is to exchange ideas among local professional female artists, as well as to increase public awareness and appreciation of contemporary women’s art.
KINGSTON HANDLOOM WEAVERS AND SPINNERS
KHWS was formed in 1948 with a mandate to promote the teaching of weaving, spinning, and related crafts in their historic, contemporary, and technical contexts. To both members and interested community members, the KHWS offers a variety of workshops, seminars, mentor programs, and open studio activities, as well as participation in a number of local events each year.
KINGSTON POTTERS GUILD
The Kingston Potters’ Guild is a non-profit, cooperative organization with the vision to support a high level of professionalism and the artistic development of members and students in the art of ceramics. This is accomplished through offering a beautiful communal studio space, as well as a variety of classes and special events to the general public. The Guild serves the Kingston community by being the key donor of bowls to the annual Martha’s Table fundraising event “Empty Bowls”.
KINGSTON SYMPHONY ASSOCIATION
The Kingston Symphony Association exists to produce and promote professional quality programs of instrumental and choral music for the education, enjoyment, and enrichment of audiences in the Greater Kingston area. The KSA is the umbrella organization for six performing ensembles, including the Kingston Symphony, the Kingston Choral Society, the Kingston Youth Orchestra, the Kingston Youth Strings, the Kingston A-Strings, and the Kingston Community Strings. The KSA also has a Volunteer Committee that works on their behalf to raise funds for the operation of the organization through various annual fundraising programs.
LIMESTONE QUILTERS' GUILD
The Limestone Quilters’ Guild is a non-profit organization with objectives to foster interest, awareness, and education in the area of quilt making. All funds raised, as well as various quilts each year, are donated to support local charities, non-profit organizations, and educational facilities.
ALLIANCE OF ARTS COUNCILS OF ONTARIO
Organization
The Alliance of Arts Councils of Ontario includes more than 30 municipal and regional arts councils, community arts councils and artists’ networks from across Ontario, who collectively represent tens of thousands of artists, hundreds of local arts organizations of every size and discipline delivering arts and culture programming and services in their communities, cultural workers and arts groups in every discipline, their volunteers and audiences.
The Kingston Arts Council is a founding member of the AACO, which was created in 2020 to help arts service organizations connect and collaborate on advocacy-related initiatives in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
