The City of Kingston Arts Fund provides grants to local arts groups and organizations to foster creativity at all levels and enrich how Kingston residents experience and engage with the arts.
In 2007, Kingston City Council established the City of Kingston Arts Fund (CKAF) comprised of $100,000 from the then Healthy Community Fund Program and an additional $400,000 in new funding. The Kingston Arts Council was contracted to administer CKAF and Kingston City Council has continued to invest in its growth each year as part of its commitment to supporting the arts, heritage and culture in Kingston. Today, CKAF is valued at nearly $550,000 and the City of Kingston has invested over $4.2 million since 2007 through this program.
Through CKAF, arts organizations and collectives have been able to develop programming, arts activities, partnerships, collaborations and initiatives that encourage arts engagement, learning opportunities, and participation with audiences across the city.
CKAF has awarded over $4.2 million dollars through 279 grants to organizations and collectives in our community.
Operating grant recipients have flouristed from the continued support though the City of Kingston Arts Fund. CKAF has provided a crucial foundation for increased administrative capacities and profesional and artistic development opportunities.
Project grant recpients recieve funding in support of arts projects ranging from music, dance, and theatre to multi-arts festivals, symposia, and events. Each year arts projects funded through CKAF connect arts activities with audiences across the city.
