Event Details
Toronto’s cross-dressing, cross-stitching Jewish American Princess Gila Münster is proud to present the 5th annual 8 Gays of Channukah queer Jewish variety show! This year’s show is benefiting Machane Lev, Canada’s only queer and Jewish sleepover camp, presented by Canadian Young Judea.
We acknowledge the devastating reality we have all been living through since October 7th as Jews, and queer Jews in particular. Our lives have been altered, and our collective experience has been that of anxiety and uncertainty. Many are still hurting and mourning. Others are filled with rage. We write this message in full recognition of the state of our community, with the hope that you will agree that celebrating Jewish queer joy is a form of resilience in times of crisis, much like the menorah that lit the darkness all those years ago. We are working on a way to meaningfully acknowledge this shared experience into the event. Please get in touch know if you have any questions or concerns about this.
The show features a handpicked selection of Toronto’s queer Jewish artists, including singers, dancers, drag queens, and other fabulous entertainers that will shock and delight for the holiday season. This year’s performers include: Abba Badkhn, Alissa Brink, Fontaine, Josie, Sarah Freia, WoManischewitz and Yan Simon.
For the first time we are also offering a VIP MEET AND GREET option that includes an exclusive musical performance and a professional photo with your host! This add-on is available for either the seated or standing room tickets. Treat yourself to a drink at the cash bar, and be sure to bring cash tips to celebrate your favourite performances.
The venue is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Photography will be taken during the event and published on social media. The show is open to ages 19 , and subject matters may be explicit or suggestive – viewer discretion is advised.
We would like to thank the generous sponsors of this year’s event: Fentster Gallery, Jewish Family & Child Service, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto’s LGBTQ Division, Aurora Strategy Global, House of Dwir, CIJA, Hillel Ontario, Beth Tzedec Congregation, Trainwreck Labs, It’s Not Therapy, Derwin Mak – Sci-Fi Author, Shir Libeynu Congregation, and Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre’s LGBTQ at the J.
