Introduction to Métis Sash weaving oral stories carried in our Sash
Presented by Candace Lloyd as part of TCCL’s Indigenous Arts Series
The Métis sash is used to identify our culture.
Participants in this workshop will learn to weave a bracelet or bookmark-sized sash, led by artist and educator Candace Lloyd. Candace will provide historical context on the Métis Sash and oral stories while demonstrating finger weaving techniques utilized by Métis individuals for centuries. The skills learned will allow individuals to weave a sash of any size in future projects—the only difference is the number and length of strands. Participants will also be provided with extra yarn to pursue future projects.
Date: Sunday, July 17
Time: 1PM – 4PM (note: the workshop may end early)
Location: Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning, Activity Room (Room 108)
Tickets: $25 HST/fees | Materials included
