The Kingston Baroque Consort is pleased to announce its third season of
music from the Baroque era. The 2023-24 season will begin with a Baroque
Festival, and will include four concerts featuring familiar and
unfamiliar Baroque delights, all on Fridays at 5:15pm at St James
Church, 10 Union St, Kingston.

With generous support from the Kingston Arts Council, the season begins
with the “Baroque Festival of Music, Art and Dance” in early October.
The festival concert, “Enchanted Steps” on Friday 6 October at 5:15pm,
will include special guest Violinist Christina Zacharias of the renowned
Toronto-based Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, and will feature dance music
by Charpentier, Telemann, and Purcell.

The festival will also include a lecture on “Louis XIV, Versailles, the
King of Siam, and Ballet-Opera Diplomacy in the 17th Century” with
Queen’s University Professor and Bader Chair in Southern Baroque Art
Gauvin Bailey, and a workshop on “Baroque dance basics” led by Baroque
dance specialist Edgar Tumak.

The season continues with three more concerts:

“Baroque Passions: Heartbreak and Tenderness”
Spellbinding music by Telemann, Steffani, Locatelli, and Hasse

“The Enchanted Garden: Music and Poetry inspired by Nature”
Welcome spring with Vivaldi, Couperin and more
Friday 2 February, 5:15pm

“Celebration! Dazzling Baroque Showpieces”
Bach’s Orchestral Suite No.1 and Mouret’s Symphonies de Fanfares (of
“Masterpiece Theatre” fame)
Friday 5 April, 5:15pm

Single tickets: Adults $25, Students $10, Under 17 free
Subscription to all 4 concerts, including the Baroque Festival: Adults
$80, Students $30, Under 17 free

The KBC is Kingston’s newest orchestra devoted wholly to Historically
Informed practice of music from the Baroque era. Founded by Katie
Legere, Jeff Hamacher, Julia McFarlane, and Michael Capon, the KBC is a
collective of professional musicians drawn from the Kingston Symphony
Orchestra and the wider community.
