PORTRAIT PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS
WITH NATASHA JABRE
May 7, 1–4PM in the Tett Centre Rehearsal Hall
Join the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning artist Natasha Jabre for an exploration in portrait painting. Participants in this 3-hour workshop will learn to develop a self-portrait from a reference photo. Students will observe, measure and record the human face using the grisaille underpainting technique. This class will address colour mixing, proper brush use, and glazing techniques. No experience is required, open to all skill levels.
$40 HST/fees. Materials provided.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Natasha Jabre is an artist whose work encompasses multiple disciplines including drawing, printmaking, ceramics, abstract and representational painting. Jabre received her BFA from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, and her MFA from The University of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth. She has gained international recognition for her work, which combines realistic and surrealistic elements, and continues to exhibit her work in Canada and abroad. Jabre’s most recent painting series stage domestic households in dramatic, psychedelic lighting schemes. She currently resides with her husband and children in Kingston, Ontario.
