The Artist Prosperity Project
The Kingston Arts Council (KAC) is proud to launch the Artist Prosperity Project, a research initiative aimed at better understanding the economic realities and creative practices of artists in Katarokwi/Kingston and the surrounding region.
The Survey
The Artisty Prosperity Survey is now closed, we thank all those who participated.
The project kicks off with the Artist Prosperity Survey, which invites visual artists, musicians, and performing artists to share information about their artistic practice, income sources, access to opportunities, barriers, and more. The data collected will form the basis of a publication intended to offer a snapshot of the local arts economy, support advocacy efforts, and promote sustainable practices across the sector.
This survey is divided into three key disciplines: Visual Arts, Music, and Performing Arts.

Visual Arts
- Painting
- Photography
- Digital art (e.g. graphic design, digital painting, animation)
- Experimental media (e.g., Virtual reality, performance art, bio-art)
- Textiles (e.g. weaving, embroidery, fibre art)
- Ceramics/Pottery
Music
- Musician/Performer
- Producer/Technician/Mixer
- Composer/Songwriter
- Producer/Engineer
- Conductor
- DJ/Turntablist
Performing Arts
- Theatre (e.g., actor, director)
- Dance (e.g., dancer, choreographer)
- Comedy (e.g., stand-up, sketch)
- Literary performing arts (e.g., storyteller, spoken word poet)
- Circus arts or acrobatics (e.g., aerialist, juggler)
- Multidisciplinary or experimental performance (e.g., virtual reality, drag)
If you don't see your discipline, like literary arts, film, or arts administration – we hope to have additional disciplines in future iterations of the survey.
Privacy
The Artist Prosperity is designed to prioritize your privacy and honest feedback. Your responses will remain anonymous and will be used only in aggregated form, ensuring that your responses contribute to collective understanding while respecting your confidentiality. The Report
One the survey has closed, we will begin reviewing the data and interpreting the results. We will then publish a report with our key takeaways from the data, as well as, the raw anonymized data itself. The published report will be available for public access and can be used by artists and service organizations to inform their own advocacy.
The report is expected to be published in the fall of 2025.

The KAC prioritizes your privacy and is committed to protecting your data. The Artist Prosperity Project survey, hosted on WorkForm by Monday.com, is designed to maintain your anonymity and safeguard your personal information.
- Data Collection and Usage:
- The survey does not intentionally collect identifying information. Any identifying details shared unintentionally will be treated as confidential and excluded from reports or analysis.
- The data will be used solely for this project to assess the Kingston arts sector and provide aggregate, anonymized insights to benefit local artists.
- Data Hosting and Security:
- Survey responses are stored securely on servers managed by Monday.com, located in Amazon Web Services (AWS) data centers in the United States and Germany.
- Monday.com adheres to GDPR and other global privacy standards to ensure your data is protected at every stage.
- Anonymity and Confidentiality:
- Your responses are anonymous unless you unintentionally include identifying details. Any such information will be removed or kept confidential.
- No personal data will be shared with third parties or published in any form.
- Data Rights and Support:
