WordLabs GivingTuesday Writing Workshop — “The Story Behind the Recipe”

This GivingTuesday, join Aara Macauley of WordLabs for a festive writing workshop designed to help you preserve the stories that make your family recipes unforgettable. Whether it’s your grandmother’s famous shortbread, your uncle’s beloved curry, or the holiday side dish everyone requests seconds of, every treasured dish carries a history worth sharing.

In this hands-on session, participants will learn how to craft a compelling, meaningful narrative that pairs with a favorite family recipe. Guided writing prompts and light instruction will help you capture memories, traditions, and the personal significance behind your chosen dish. By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with a short narrative that can be printed and gifted alongside your recipe—perfect for holiday sharing.

This event is also a GivingTuesday fundraiser in support of WordLabs, helping us continue to offer classes by and for members of our community, aiming to foster a lifelong love of literacy. Writing is more than a basic skill — it’s a powerful form of expression. From songs to stories, personal reflections to professional communication, writing helps us articulate ideas, connect with others, and build confidence.
