Wooden Movements Opening Reception: Saturday November 22nd 1-4pm
Photography is more than just capturing images; it’s about conveying emotion and energy. Forests, with their intricate textures and subtle colors, can be challenging to photograph. Traditional techniques often result in flat, lifeless images. Through experimentation, photographer Ed Lehming discovered that intentional camera movement (ICM) and using the correct medium, in this case, brushed aluminum, brings life to forest photography. By moving the camera during exposure, Lehming is able to create dynamic images that reflect the forest’s vitality. Techniques like slow shutter speeds, controlled movement, and intentional composition help capture the energy of the woods in this body of work. This approach transforms static scenes into vibrant, expressive photographs, inviting viewers to experience the forest’s spirit in a new way.
Ed Lehming’s work is on view at Melt Studio and Gallery from November 21 to December 14, 2025.
The gallery is open Friday–Sunday, 12–5 pm and is located at 343 County Road 22 at Base31
Barrack #3 (Dieppe Road), Picton, ON.
