Looking to get involved with us?

We are always happy to take on volunteers to help us serve the local arts community! We strive to cater each volunteer's experience to their interests, abilities, comfort level, and professional goals.

Ways to get involved

There are a few different ways that you can support the KAC! Some of the areas you can help the KAC with are:

  • Administrative
    • E.g., resource collection, research, and website maintenance.
  • Bingo (19+)
    • Bingo volunteering is one of the most impactful form of volunteering one can do for the KAC. A single two hour bingo shift raises over $1,500 for the KAC!
  • Communications
    • E.g., social media support, newsletter editing, copywriting.
  • Gallery
    • E.g., exhibition setup, patch & paint, gallery receptions.
  • Office
    • E.g., organizing archives, tidying hosting area, decorating.
  • Programs
    • E.g., workshops, holiday events, pop-up events.

How it Works

Volunteering with the KAC is easy and convenient! By using our Volunteer Dashboard, volunteers can get involved in the way that works best for them. Volunteers can choose between signing up for static "Open Shifts" or use "Task Selection" to volunteer for specific tasks and events when they're available.

A screenshot of the Volunteer Dashboard. It gives an overview of the columns: Tasks, Possible Volunteers, Volunteering, Assigned, Status, Priority, Date, Start Time, and End Time. It has rows that go over each possible task like: Open Shifts, Administrative, Programs, Bingo, Communications, Gallery, and Office.
  • Open Shifts: For volunteers with who like a consistent schedule.
    • Open Shifts are static shifts during our regular office hours.
    • Volunteers indicate their availability during specific times of the week and can either create a consistent schedule or volunteer when it's convenient for them.
    • Tasks are assigned upon arrival.
  • Task Selection: For volunteers with a more limited schedule who want to help out with specific tasks that align with their interests when they have the time.
    • After onboarding, volunteers will be assigned tasks they've indicated they're interested in and are trained for.
      • Volunteers will be notified when a possible task becomes available.
    • Volunteers then indicate if they are interested and available to help with that task or event.
      • Task Details: Each task will include information like priority, type, date & time, and notes. Clicking on the task will reveal more details and a space for comments or questions.

The Volunteer Dashboard gives volunteers more agency about when and how they choose to support the Kingston Arts Council!
